Trehalose, as a natural sugar, can form a special protective film on the cell surface to protect its internal structure in harsh environments such as high temperature, high cold, dryness and dehydration. It is a very stable non-reducing disaccharide.
Trehalose is very stable and is known as the "sugar of life" in the scientific community. It is widely found in lower plants, algae, bacteria, fungi, insects and invertebrates. For many living organisms, the presence or absence of trehalose means life or death.
1. Targeted barrier repair
40% -50% of the sebum in the stratum corneum is composed of ceramide. Trehalose replaces other components in the stratum corneum of damaged skin, allowing ceramide molecules to be arranged in their normal way, stabilizing sebum, delaying water evaporation, maintaining the osmotic balance of the stratum corneum, protecting the normal osmotic function of the skin, and thus repairing the skin barrier.
2. Protect cell membranes
Trehalose molecules contain multiple hydroxyl groups and polar groups, which can replace water molecules when cells are dehydrated. Through the hydrogen bonds formed by trehalose's -OH and phospholipid PO2-, lipid bilayer fusion and material leakage are inhibited, thereby protecting the stability of cell membrane structure and function.
3. Strong water lock and moisturizing
Trehalose molecules contain multiple hydroxyl groups and polar groups, which can form hydrogen bonds with water molecules in the surrounding environment and firmly bind water molecules; trehalose and sodium hyaluronate are both sugar substances and can be combined with each other. The macromolecular polysaccharide sodium hyaluronate promotes the uniform distribution of small molecular disaccharide trehalose, promotes its absorption, and maintains the moisturizing effect for a longer time.
4. Anti-UVB damage
Remove OH· free radicals generated by B and A rays, making cell DNA less likely to mutate. Experimental studies have shown that 10MMOL/KG of trehalose can allow living cells to withstand 4.3 times the normal dose of B and A rays. Trehalose can effectively protect DNA from damage caused by UVB and play an anti-photoaging role.
